Ms. Cathy's Early Childhood ClassThe goal of our early childhood program is to bring each student to their full potential in the areas of pre-kindergarten readiness, fine and gross motor, social emotional, expressive and receptive language, and self-help skills. We integrate Creative Curriculum within our classroom, Handwriting Without Tears, Preschool Fundations Program, and we will be introducing Bridges Math into the new 2018/2019 school year for the first time! We visit the media center, art, music, and P.E. once weekly with our morning and afternoon class and we also have a buddy program through the local middle school.
We utilize lesson plans and goal monitoring sheets which will be sent home weekly with your child. Our day begins with table and circle activities in which concepts are introduced and colors, shapes, counting, letters, and numbers are reinforced through songs and visual materials. Each week we go through special themes and incorporate a letter of the week along with the letter sound. Next, the students are encouraged to learn through several centers that are set up within the classroom to provide them ample learning opportunities related to our lessons. Free play is integrated as research has determined the best way for children to learn is through play. Our day will conclude with socializing during snack time, motor activities with music and goodbye songs. Optional "homework" is sent every week with your child along with our letter bags to increase their skills and I would be so pleased if you encouraged your child to work with you through these!
